We want to increase awareness about the status of women with respect to men. How can we do this?

 
Gujarat State government is committed to integrate gender development concept in their programmes, projects and to create a programme for gender equality.
 
As a part of their commitment, the State Government has implemented ‘Swashakti' project at the state level in partnership with field Non-Government Organisations (NGOs). While implementing these and other programmes, a need was expressed for the easy accessibility of gender related data in one place and hence, Government of Gujarat had announced the state policy on 'Population Development'.
 
Gender Data Bank project is under taken by Commissionerate of Women and Child development to create awareness about gender equality.
 
Thus, Gender Data Bank was introduced to carry out the following functions:

To develop state level capacities in the production of gender statistic publications.
•
To act as a guide to feed data from national statistical offices and gender programmes interested in conducting a statistical analysis of women and men for wide dissemination to users of various background orientations.
•
To provide data for generating indicators on the basis of critical gender issues and concerns.
•
To increase awareness about the status of women in relation to men.
•
To provide an objective basis for evaluating progress towards gender equality and achievement of equal opportunity.
 
In accordance with the requirements of Gender Data Bank, application was developed by The Digitek personnel with the following features.

The database containing statistics in the form of tables, figures and indicators.
•
The statewide database, covering 25 districts and 226 talukas.
•
Statistical output in form of tables, reports and figures.

This is a web-based application with combination of dynamic and static modules. The data could be entered and uploaded by the administrative user. The published data is available to everybody on internet.
