IOCL wants to develop web based integrated system for inventory & accounts. How did Digitek help them do that?

Indian Oil Corporation - WRMO envisaged creating an efficient operation for both its internal and external customers. It had already earmarked the users, the frequency of usage and the scope of usage of this application amongst all its users.

Digitek was selected to develop this application for them. The features envisaged for the application is that the inventory and the accounting have to be integrated and it had to be a web based system. There would be a security enabled area which would allow access to only authorized members. These members would be able to view only positions pertaining to the transactions authorized by them over the period of time. This data could be viewed in multiple combinations as also decided by the reports printed.

The scope of work as defined as follows:

Based on the requirement and scope of work the application was developed using web technology. The presentation layer is developed using HTML and Photoshop. ASP 2 with VB script and Java Script is used for web programming. The MS SQL 6.5 is used for centralized database.

The features of the application are:

•	The Home Page serves as gateway to the web application.
•	The static information is accessible to general public at large and login module to access web application.
•	Security enabled Area where only registered members have access.
•	Member/users can view trade information, pending deliveries, ledger, etc.
•	Daily Stock Position, Sales information, Stock Transfers, Weekly Party Account Debit, Blending Schedule are generated and are accessible based user role and permissions granted.
•	The input to the system could be from legacy system or online updates.
•	Management interface provides managerial and statistical data retrieval.
•	Administrative module is developed to set user based access controls.
•	Also online Bulletin Board is developed where Indian Oil could post useful information.
